I am currently a researcher in the interdisciplinary research network Legacies of Communism, which is initiated and hosted by the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History in Potsdam (ZZF). My research focuses on the emergence of the financial institutions and elites in Georgia after the break-down of the Soviet Union.

I am a political economist and have a Phd in social and economic sciences from the University of Kassel. My dissertation studied the phenomenon of foreign currency domination – dollarization – in Georgia. I am currently working on a book manuscript Unravelling Dollarization persistence: the case of Georgia, which will be published by Routledge.

I am interested in finance in post-socialist states along the state building process. My research focus is on currency hierarchy, central banking in peripheral states, financialization and state theory.
